Just one thing before I start; I have updated ‘The Tanks and Fish’. Check it out for future plans, tanks sizes, dimentions and more.

Fry update:

Recount- 6+ fry! The numbers have been steady for about 3 or 4 days now. The fry are 6 days old. They have gotten so much bigger, at least double their size, already! I can’t wait tosee what they turn out like.

Cool weather:

Here in Brisbane, Australia the weather is starting to cool down. I put my heater back in my tank a few days ago and the tank is now steady at 26-27*c (78-80*f) to accomidate the fry.

RIP

My green snakeskin guppy sadly passed during the night last night. Over the last few days he had been hiding away in the plants, hanging around the water surface and not eating much. I think this may have something to do with him being bullied by my other male guppy. I found him on his side when I got home, he was unalble to stay upright but still had some ability to move about, though no controll over direction. I put him in a separate comtainer and tried to hold a bloodworm up to his mouth to see if he was hungry, but he appeared to have lost his appetite. I set out to the shops in search of some clove oil which i would use for the oil & vodka method to put him to sleep peacefully (separate into a small tank or container, add a few drops of clove oil to put it to sleep. once asleep add vodka to ensure it doesn’t wake up again). I searched everywhere but could not get my hands on any. I came home and with no other options i just put some plants in the tank to calm him and put a towel over the top to make it dull and peacefull. After performing regular routines on two of my 8 gallon tanks I came back to feed my 20 gallon Community Tank and realised the towel was wet. I lifted it up to find that all his water had been soaked up. i immediately put him into the 20 gall and filled the container up with water. This time i accidentally sucked up a guppy fry. I emptied it again and filled it back up, this time successfull. I then placed him back into the container, this time placing a magazine on top instead. He was still alive at this point, he died during the night. This may have been the result of an infection from a wound as a result of bullying, but with no signs of parasites, a fungal infection or even a wound in the first place, the death remains relitively a mystery.

…RIP…
